Piloting Comprehensive Return and Reintegration Assistance for Hungarian Victims of Trafficking
Geographical Coverage: Hungary
Duration: December 2015 - December 2018
Donor: Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs
Summary: Under this 12-month pilot project Hungarian victims of trafficking will be provided with an innovative and comprehensive package of support services, which are modular and therefore can be tailored to the needs of the beneficiaries. The project aims to reinforce and train a network of victim assistance professionals, provide accurate and up-to-date information to clients, facilitate the provision of adequate pre-departure assistance and counselling, organize and facilitate the return of the beneficiaries to Hungary, offer a comprehensive reintegration programme to beneficiaries, and to raise victims’ perseverance and empower them.
The project is composed of four project components:
- Pre-departure assistance including individual return counselling, needs assessment and risk assessment;
- Return assistance provided by IOM;
- Reintegration assistance provision to beneficiaries including in-kind reintegration grant and shelter placement offering work and training therapy;
- 2-day workshop in Budapest to bring together shelter staff from Hungary, counter-trafficking focal points and return counsellors from 8 European Member states where Hungarian victims of trafficking are present in high numbers: the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, United Kingdom and Spain. The workshop will focus on addressing the special vulnerabilities of victims of trafficking and methods of addressing the problem of early drop-out from assistance schemes.
