IOM offers unpaid, full-time internship positions for a minimum of 3 months, with the possibility of extension (but not exceeding 6 months). The IOM Internship Programme targets young, talented undergraduate and graduate students, willing to gain practical experience in a field relevant to the Organization through their full involvement in daily working activities in migration related areas and/or in public international administration and finance. IOM provides on-the-job training to interns so that both they and the Organization can benefit. In addition to this, IOM evaluates interns who may eventually be included on the roster for future external vacancies.

The Internship Programme also targets academic institutions and universities operating in areas relevant to IOM activities and programmes, thus strengthening the cooperation with active migration policy makers and keeping abreast of the most recent debates, concepts, theories and tools developed on migration-related issues.

Thus far, IOM Budapest has welcomed interns from: Albania, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Ukraine and the United States.
