CARDS: Development of Reliable and Functioning Policing Systems to Combat Main Criminal Activities and Enhance Police Cooperation (CARPO) (2004 - 2006)

Summary: The project’s goal was to strengthen the capacities of the CARDS countries to develop and implement regional strategies against serious forms of crime based on the acquis of the European Union and other European standards and practices by enabling them to deliver comprehensive training against trafficking in human beings, smuggling and illegal migration. Hungary had a key role in the project by offering facilities through the proposed Crime Prevention Academy, which serves as a training centre for police officials from the Western Balkans.
