Mental Health Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings: Development of Minimum Standards of Care plus Regional Training of Trainers Workshop (2003 - 2004)

Geographical Coverage: Hungary

Duration: October 2003 – October 2004

Donor: United States Government

Status: Completed

Summary: As a first follow-up project to the conference, the project developed minimum standards for the provision of mental health assistance to trafficked victims (see publication), in recognition of the fact that many victims are traumatized by their experiences, and psychological scars often take much longer to heal than physical scars. These standards were developed through the formation of an expert team representing government health institutions, inter-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions, and through the implementation of a regional training of trainers workshop.
