Government and NGOs Capacity Building to Prevent and Respond to Trafficking in Persons (2003 - 2004)

Geographical Coverage: Hungary

Duration: October 2003 - December 2004

Donor: Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons of the US State Department

Status: Completed

Summary: The overall aim of this project was to strengthen the institutional capacity of key government ministries and agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the media, in order to understand and respond appropriately to human trafficking issues in the Hungarian context. This was accomplished through the development of training curriculum and materials, and the implementation of training workshops throughout the country. The project proposed the use of the Training of Trainers method to develop a cadre of master trainers capable of training others. It was also recognized that further identification of key areas of collaboration, and the development of partnership processes are required between the government and NGOs, thus opportunities for dialogue and co-operation would be fostered within the training environment.
