Within the framework of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) project, IOM Budapest staff interviewed more than 300 people in different migrants facilities in Hungary between the 15^th of February and the 30^th of June 2017 in order to get an overview of the composition of the migrants, who arrived to the country.

This published overview captures the most important and interesting facts and figures, and provides a good outline of the composition of migrants, who arrived to Hungary in the first half of this year. It compiles information about their age, gender, marital status, education and nationalities, as well as the way they arrived to Hungary, the main reasons they had for leaving their countries of origin and their intended destination countries.

According to the results of this survey:

• Migrants in Hungary typically travelled for more than 6 months to reach Hungary from their departure country. Male respondents comprise a majority of those surveyed: the share of men is more than six times higher than that of women. A significant majority of respondents (74%) reported having left their countries of origin due to war and conflict. At the time of interview, 27% of all respondents reported the United Kingdom as their intended country of destination, followed closely by Austria (25%), and to a lesser extent Germany (18%), and Hungary (17%).
