IOM Budapest has published a Snapshot with the most important highlights of its work of Jan - June 2017, such as the following:

• Heads of State and Government at the UN General Assembly recognized the need for a comprehensive approach to migration and refugees. The New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants was adopted, and all member states pledged to develop a Global Compact for safe, orderly, and regular migration. IOM intends to support the Global Compact by organizing six thematic consultations on facilitating safe, orderly, and regular migration, providing research support, including thematic papers on all 24 elements of the New York Declaration, and will ensure a bottom-up approach to consultations at the national level, by utilizing its country offices to reach out to host governments, and support multi-stakeholder consultations; Our activities included ten projects on various migration-related issues such as counter-trafficking, family reunification, child protection and data collection on people on the move.
