Migration Information Centre for the Prevention of Irregular Migration and the Trafficking of Human Beings (2003 - 2004)
Geographical Coverage: Hungary
Duration: October 2003 - December 2004
Donor: Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons of the US State Department
Status: Completed
Summary: The overall aim of this project was to contribute to the prevention of irregular migration and trafficking in human beings in Hungary, while promoting legal migration initiatives through the provision of accurate, appropriate, and relevant migration information. This was accomplished through the development and operation of an easily accessible walk-in Migration Information Centre (MIC), offering several on-site services, such as a documentation centre for various migration information materials, referrals and counselling, presentations, a hotline and website. The MIC coordinated with project partners, including various consular sections accredited in Hungary, relevant government entities, NGOs and IGOS to provide accurate and up-to-date counter-trafficking and migration-related information.
