Within the framework of “PROTECT - Preventing sexual and gender-based violence against migrants and strengthening support to victims” project, IOM Budapest organized capacity building trainings for professionals working with migrants and refugees in Hungary. The trainings were organized for the staff of the Zugló Family Support Centre, UNHCR and Károlyi István Children’s Centre. Among the participants were social workers, interpreters, field workers and NGO staff.

The topics of the training included introduction to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), identification of SGBV victims, and intercultural communication etc. These trainings were organized following the objective of build capacity for professionals who work with and for refugees, migrants and asylum-seekers with the aim of identifying and addressing the needs of victims and potential victims of SGBV more effectively.

During the interactive training sessions, an awareness raising video, which was developed in the project and can be watched here, was presented to the audience as well.
